Asus released several budgets to premium motherboards for Intel and AMD processors, and all of them got positive reviews except for a few once. There we have the ROG Strix B450-F, which you can get from its name that it’s from Republic of Gamers series that is known for mid-rage to premium motherboards.

If you don’t want to go with the x470 chipset and to look for something premium but an affordable choice from B450 chipset, there might be no other better option than this one.

This motherboard is packed with all of the bonuses features a high-end gaming build needs and has some mid-range controllers that are not too expensive, but in return, they give the best performance.

Of course, you can’t get performance from this motherboard like some x470 chipset boards, but for its price, this one doesn’t stand before any x470 chipset mobo.

It offers a 6 + 2 Phase Design VRM that offers impressive overclocking potential not only for four cores processors but also for some mainstream picks like Ryzen 7 2700x.  Price-wise it’s not an expensive option, and you can take it by paying an extra 20-30 USD additional than any other budget B450 chipset motherboard.

The user’s feedback was amazing for this motherboard, and mostly, they praise the quality of this gaming beast. Also, we know that Asus don’t go cheap with the quality of their products and that’s the reason behind the success of this company.

This motherboard has three PCIe x16 slots and three PCIe x1 slots, and the primary and secondary slot comes with PCI steel armor, allowing you to install high end or bug graphics cards.

You are permitted to install 128 GB of memory, which you can split into four modules rated at the clock speed of 3600 MHz OC. For storage, there are six SATA6 slots and two M.2 slots with ultra-fast data transfer speed.

There is a 6 + 2 Phase design VRM, which allows you to overclock this processor, but not like the other boards are offering, especially x470 chipset.

As we already know, it’s a premium motherboard, but there are some basic features that it lacks, and it would be much better if it comes with them.

First of all, this motherboard lacks power or reset buttons or POST LED, which helps in debugging pre-boot errors. Also, there are no heat sinks on the BIOS, but other options like from MSI and Gigabyte Aorus are offering them for the same price.

Also, ASUS ROG Strix B450-F lacks onboard Wi-Fi, which is commonly available in mid-range motherboards. Overall, its performance is excellent for Ryzen 2000 series processors.

Pros
  • ASUS ROG UEFI Bios for easy tweaking.
  • DRAM overclocking is much better than our expectations.
  • The southbridge sticker is readily swappable.
  • Best in class controllers.
  • Able to overclock eight-core processors without having any issue.
Cons
  • Lacks some necessary buttons and Post LED for debugging.
  • No heat sinks over the M.2 slots.
  • It would be much better if it comes with Wi-Fi.

Best Budget Motherboard for Ryzen 5 2400G - MSI B450 Tomahawk

MSI B450 Tomahawk

Memory Support3466 MHz, 4x, 128 GB
Voltage Regulators3 + 2
SATA6x

We mostly see in the market that companies, as they instead of releasing a brand-new version, refreshed the previous models with some improvements.

This thing was ubiquitous in the B340 and x470 chipset motherboards as most of them are the same as their predecessors. MSI did the same with the B450 Tomahawk, which was a revised version of the previous model with a new chipset and some other tweaks.

If you’ve ever used the B350 Tomahawk, you will find both of these motherboards the same but with extended heatsink, RGB lights, and better connectivity options.

The B450 tomahawk comes with a pair of PCIe x16 slots with steel armor on the primary one and few PCIe x1 slots. There is a single M.2 slot that doesn’t share its bandwidth with any other slot and offers excellent speed while it also has six SATA 6GBPS slots.

The thing you need with this gaming processor is to put a 16 GB of the memory stick on this motherboard and enjoy gaming. There are an HDMI and a DVI port, and as you know, this processor comes with a powerful integrated graphics card, and we need them. One thing that might disappoint some users is the lack of Display Port, which is available in most of the other options.

B350 was a cheap option for this processor, but it’s not available these days, and B450 offers the same features for a slightly low price. The included features on this motherboard are a pair of USB 3.1 Gen2 ports; they offer data transfer speed up to 10 GBPS. Also, there are controllable RGB lights integrated on the board, and you can customize their effects.

For the audio and networking side, we thank Realtek, who offers cost-effective and offers the best value and performance for their price. Four memory slots allow you to install 64 GB of RAM rated at 3400 MHz clock speed, and that’s enough for mid-range motherboards.

The VRM of this motherboard is good, but still, it doesn’t offer performance like its sibling, the MSI B450 Tomahawk. There we have some entry-level motherboards in this list that are offering a pair of M.2 slots, but this one lacks and provides a single slot for NVMe modules.

The RGB headers on this motherboard are not directly controllable like we’ve seen in other motherboards. It offers six fan headers, including the casing fans and CPU fan, and its rarely seen in any motherboard from the same category, and that impressed me.

Also, the price of this board is affordable, but these days because of shortage, it’s going high in some regions, but we can expect a price drop soon.

Pros
  • Decent VRM configuration and cooling solution.
  • Very affordable price for its performance.
  • Has USB 3.1 support and a high-speed M.2 slot.
  • Six fan headers are enough for any motherboard.
Cons
  • Lacks the secondary M.2 slow, which is disappointing.
  • The RGB headers on this motherboard are not directly controllable.

Best Cheap Motherboard for Ryzen 5 2400G - Gigabyte B450 DS3H Micro ATX

MotherboardGigabyte B450 DS3H Micro ATX
ChipsetB450
Memory Support4x
Voltage Regulators5 + 2
SATA4x

Gigabyte B450 DS3H Micro ATX is targeted towards the general computer users and entry-level gamers. The company, instead of adding some fancy looks and RGB lights they’ve focused on all of the basic features, including the support for AMD Crossfire X.

For looks, there is no onboard RGB light but an RGB light header for some rainbow-like color effects on your PC. The aesthetics of this motherboard comes from its black colored PCB, which has a grey color circuit printed coming from the edges and joins together at the socket.

Those who like to have some more powerful hardware can go with the Aorus B450, but those who are conscious about the budget can go with this option.

The controllers in this motherboard are offered by the Realtek, which are very cost-effective and provide decent performance for their price in entry-level hardware.

The Realtek Gbe LAN controller gives the best in its class performance but doesn’t expect something more than average from it like other mid-range and premium motherboards are offering.

There are two PCIe x16 slots and one PCIe x1 slot while the top slot is PCIe x16, and the bottom one runs at x4 mode, and it also doesn’t support multiple graphics cards.

Like all other Gigabyte motherboards we’ve seen in the market, this one also offers four DIMMs that support memory up to 64 GB at the clock speed of 3200 MHz, and it’s enough for any build.

This motherboard supports both ECC and non-ECC memory modules and comes with built-in XMP profiles that offer better performance. For storage, Gigabyte puts four straight angled SATA3 slots that support RAID 0, 1, 10 sets of arrays.

Also, there is an M.2 slot that supports NVMe modules 22110 or generally known as the 22 x 110 mm drives. For the power delivery, there is a 4 + 3 Phase Hybrid Design VRM that offers cool overclocking potential but not that much. Also, the heatsink over the VRM and MOSFETs is lightweight and doesn’t handle much heat.

The ASRock B450 Pro4 comes for almost the same price but offers a pair of M.2 slots while this motherboard has only one, and this thing disappoints me a bit. Also, it has four SATA slots, which is not enough for future expansion.

The lack of RGB lights even doesn’t seem right, and most users like to have some RGB hardware these days. This motherboard also lacks a USB Type-C port on the back, though if your case has one on the front panel, you can get this advantage.

Overall for its price and performance, this motherboard is good enough, and the support for Ryzen 3000 series processors makes it an even more compelling option.

Pros
  • Comes with an M.2 slot with a fast transfer rate.
  • Supports Ryzen 3000 series processors out of the box.
  • Offers high overclocking power with Ryzen 2nd gen processors.
  • 5 + 2 Phase Design Voltage Regulators.
  • Supports multiple AMD graphics cards.
Cons
  • No onboard RGB lights.
  • It is missing the USB Type-C port on the rear panel.
  • Some competitors come with a pair of M.2 slots.

Best Motherboard For Ryzen 5 2400g Overclock - ASRock B450M PRO4-F

MotherboardASRock B450M PRO4-F
ChipsetB450
Memory Support4x, 128GB 3400 MHz
Voltage Regulators6 + 4 Hybrid Design
SATA4x

AMD released their 2000 series processors, and most of the motherboard manufacturers shifted from B350 to B450, and that’s the same case with the ASRock.

The B350 Pro4 is best for ryzen 5 2400g motherboard combo, and the company has refreshed the model with some minor tweaks, including the chipset and design.

From entry-level to enthusiasts’ motherboards, ASRock has all items in their product list, and each motherboard offers excellent performance for its price. ASRock B450 is built with high-quality glass fiber that gives strength to the base of this board and prevents it from humidity.

The good thing in this motherboard is that it gives you further upgrade options as it supports Ryzen 3000 series processors out of the box, and you don’t need to change the motherboard while upgrading.

This board also has two PCIe x16 slots and one PCIe x1 slot, and it allows you to install two dual-slot graphics cards on it. ASRock added a pair of M.2 slots on this motherboard, and that’s what I appreciate much about it as some other expensive options offer only one.

The back panel has plenty of connectivity ports, including USB Type-A, USB Type-C, and some other ports.

The VRM of this motherboard is of 6 + 4 Phase Design, and of course, it’s not going to beat x470 or x570 chipset motherboards but still offers excellent value for its price.

For processors like Ryzen 7 2700x, it can easily push the clock rate to 4.3 GHz at 1.45v, which is impressive as this processor has eight cores while the one we have on our list only has four. Though for this overclocking, you just need to go with some aftermarket cooler because the stock one is not able to handle it very well.

ASRock B450M PRO4-F is an excellent gaming motherboard but lacks some features that other competitors are offering for the same price point. Firstly, this motherboard lacks Debug LED, which is used to solve the pre-boot errors that we often see in the motherboards.

This motherboard also lacks RGB lights, but the good thing is it has an RGB header, which allows you to install lights in your case and can enjoy some rainbow-like effects. The BIOS reset or flash button is missing in this motherboard, which is used while upgrading the BIOS.

Overall if we look, it’s one of the best motherboards for Ryzen 5 2400g and offers excellent value for its price.

Pros
  • It has 9 Phase Design VRM.
  • Supports highly overclocked memory modules.
  • Compatible with Ryzen Zen2 processors out of the box.
  • 2 pair and has Crossfire support.
  • Very affordable price for its features.
Cons
  • No onboard RGB lights.
  • Missing Debug Led for pre-boot errors.
  • The BIOS reset button is missing on this board.

Best Gaming Motherboard For Ryzen 5 2400g - Gigabyte x470 Aorus Ultra Gaming

MotherboardGigabyte x470 Aorus Gaming
ChipsetX470
Memory Support4x, 128 GB,
Voltage Regulators13 Phase Design VRM
SATA6x

Gigabyte motherboards are usually cheaper than all other vendors and offer the same features and build quality, and that’s the same case with the Gigabyte x470 Aorus Gaming.

With this chipset, it’s one of the cheapest motherboards in its category and offers excellent features and overclocking power.

Also, you might know that x470 chipset is way better than B450 because of premium features and significant VRM cooling resulting in more performance and overclocking potential.

I found this motherboard the best choice for the Ryzen 5 2400g chipset and also some other high-end processors as it supports them. The best part of this motherboard is its overclocking potential as it can push clocks of AMD mainstream 2700x 8-cores processor.

Gigabyte products come with some great aesthetics, especially their premium products, and this one has some RGB lights integrated on it, which you can change from a mobile phone application.

On the southbridge, there is a large heatsink with the Gigabyte Aorus logo with backlit that gives impressive looks to the board in the tempered glass case. It’s an ATX motherboard as you might already know that x470 motherboards don’t come in the other two sizes.

There are two PCIe x16 slots on this motherboard, which supports both AMD and Nvidia multiple graphics cards configurations though I would not recommend you go with it unless you upgrade your processor.

As we all know that overclocking mostly depends on VRM, as this motherboard is expensive than B450, and offering better VRM config and cooling solutions is likely to give more performance.

It has an I/O cover and a lot of connectivity options and ports on the rear panel at least more than B450 chipset motherboards. For storage purposes, there are six SATA6 slots and two M.2 slots with M.2 Key for Wi-Fi modules.

It also has some RGB lights headers, fan headers, and the option to install AIO cooler with it. In short, I would say those who like to have a powerful machine ignoring the budget can go with this motherboard to experience some high power.

Gigabyte x470 Aorus Gaming is a good gaming motherboard, but sometimes the components on this board conflict with the cases reported by some of its buyers.

The ASUS and MSI x470 motherboard run quietly and offer better performance and value than this one; however, they are a bit expensive than this one. The price of this motherboard could be slightly lower than it is now.

However, it’s still less costly than other vendors and offers impressive performance for its price. The software or the BIOS of this motherboard needs to be refreshed as it’s messed up and a bit hard for some non-technical users to use for tweaking.

Pros
  • Able to overclock eight cores mainstream CPUs like Ryzen 7 2700x.
  • Offers great value and performance for its price.
  • Very stable performance while overclocking.
  • More connectivity options than the B450 chipset.
  • There are plenty of RGB lighting options on this board.
  • Crossfire and SLI support in 2-Way config.
Cons
  • The software needs to be refreshed.
  • Expensive price.
  • It is not recommended for budget users.

Best X570 Motherboard For Ryzen 5 2400g - ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming

MotherboardASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming
ChipsetX570
Memory Support4x, 64 GB,
SATA6x

There is no doubt that ASUS designs some of the most powerful motherboards, not to mention that they look pretty solid as well. The company has a great past with success in motherboards and now with every generation, it releases many series of motherboards.

ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming motherboard is although not as big as other X570 motherboards you would see in the market, the overall theme of the motherboard is very similar to that of the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E motherboard. There is an RGB logo on the I/O cover as well as on the M.2 shield and there is RGB lighting on the right side of the motherboard as well.

The I/O cover of the motherboard extends almost towards the end of the motherboard, where the shield for the M.2 slot goes right, serving as a heat-sink for high-speed SSD drives. Since this is a mini-ITX motherboard, there is only a single PCI-E slot on the motherboard, that is present right below the M.2 slot.

There are two DIMM slots on the motherboard instead of four, which you would find in ATX or even micro-ATX motherboards. This leads to a maximum memory capacity of 64 GB by using 32 GB of sticks. However, there are two M.2 slots on the motherboard, where one of them is present above the PCI-E slot and the other one is present at the backside of the motherboard.

One of the best things about this motherboard is that despite having a super-small size, it provides great overclocking support. The VRM of the motherboard is quite powerful, with an 8+2 phase power design, which should easily be able to overclock high-end processors if you later want to upgrade your Ryzen 2400G to 3700X, etc.

The heat-sinks on the VRM are very thick and there should be no thermal issues as long as the case has adequate airflow, although getting high airflow in a mini-ITX case is a bit difficult task.

As for the I/O of the motherboard, it provides two antenna outputs for wireless connectivity, 3 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, 4 x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, an HDMI 2.0 port, a Displayport 1.4, a GigaBit LAN port, and 3 x 3.5mm audio jacks. There is no optical S/PDIF out port, which might be a deal-breaker for audiophiles.

Overall, the motherboard is great for someone who wants to design a super-small-sized rig that you can easily place in your TV lounge, etc.

Pros
  • Mini-ITX system feels great for TV-lounge rigs.
  • Great OC support despite being an ITX motherboard
  • Thick M.2 shield
Cons
  • Not the cheapest ITX motherboard for X570 chipset.
