MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS

MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS

MSI has upped their game a lot in motherboards, just like ASUS and these two companies have revolutionized the motherboard industry. MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS is a mid-range X570-based motherboard and it provides many of the high-end features while coming at a relatively lower price.

The design of the motherboard is similar to most of the other gaming motherboards, with a red and black theme. The red pattern is present all over the motherboard and it surely attracts the users. There is RGB lighting at the left edge of the motherboard. The heat-sinks of the VRM are quite large and the left one extends towards the I/O panel cover. The south heat-sink has a big fan that is actively cooling the chipset.

There are four DIMM slots in the motherboard, which can be filled with up to 32 GB of memory sticks, making a total of 128 GB of memory. There are two M.2 slots on the motherboard, where one of them has a large heat-spreader. As for the PCI-E slots, there are five PCI-E slots, with two of them being PCI-E X16 slots and three of them being PCI-E X1 slots. For storage, there is a total of six SATA III ports, which is the standard in most motherboards.

The motherboard supports up to 4400 MHz of RAM, which is probably more than what most users would buy for their system, and going above this frequency is not so profitable anyway. The motherboard does support PCI-E 4.0, which is great for PCI-Express based SSD devices and the latest graphics cards.

The VRM of the motherboard is quite a high-quality one, providing 8+2 phase power delivery and you will have no issue whatsoever using this motherboard for overclocking AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. The heat-sinks of the VRM are also big enough to handle the heat. Conclusively, MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS is a motherboard that is targeted towards mid-range users that do not want much of the visuals or unique features but still want solid performance, especially in case of overclocking the processor.

GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ELITE

GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ELITE

Some of the best-looking motherboards in the market are by GIGABYTE and the reason for this is the large use of RGB lighting in combination with lots of covers on the motherboard. GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ELITE is a high-end air-cooled motherboard by the company and it is priced higher than the likes of MPG X570 GAMING PLUS.

The design of the motherboard looks more professional and interesting than the previous one and the brushed-aluminum heat-sinks are definitely one of the reasons for that. Apart from the RGB lighting on the left, there is RGB lighting on the I/O panel cover and there is the AORUS logo there as well. Like the MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, there is a blower-fan that is actively cooling the south heat-sink, although it is a lot smaller in size.

The motherboard has four DIMM slots, which is the same configuration as that of the MPG X570 GAMING PLUS. The motherboard supports up to 4400 MHz RAM sticks with overclocking. Moreover, there are two M.2 slots on the motherboard, with one of them being covered by a small heat-spreader.

There are four PCI-E slots on the motherboard, where one of them is reinforced with metal and the rest of the three slots are bare. The reinforced slot is a PCI-E X16 slot and one of the remaining three slots is also a PCI-E X16 slot while two other ones are PCI-E X1 slots.

The overclocking performance of this motherboard is better than the previous one; a special thanks to the 12+2 phase digital VRM. The heat-sinks of the VRM although seem a bit smaller than the previous one. Overall, this motherboard is great for those people who are looking to buy a high-quality motherboard without spending a lot. The features of this motherboard are although quite similar to the previous one, the overall quality seems a lot better, which increases the performance of the processor as well as the durability of the motherboard.

ASROCK B450 Steel Legend

ASROCK B450 Steel Legend

ASROCK used to be a subsidiary of ASUS but later it became a separate company. The company is quite similar to the ASUS’ current subsidiary ROG, which designs a lot of enthusiastic products for gamers. ASROCK designs some of the best-valued motherboards in the market and their motherboards are uniquely known for providing high value and great overclocking features. ASUS B450 Steel Legend is a motherboard that is based on the B450 chipset, which is a mid-range chipset.

ASROCK B450 Steel Legend is a motherboard that is quite unique in design because not a lot of motherboards provide a black and white theme, especially with digital camouflage. There is RGB lighting in the motherboard as well, which, in combination with the black and white theme, makes it great for white-colored cases. The I/O panel cover has RGB lighting on it while there is RGB lighting underneath the south heat-sink.

There are four DIMM slots on this motherboard as well, which makes its RAM capacity similar to the previous motherboards. This motherboard has a total of six PCI-E slots, with two of them being PCI-E X16 slots and four of them being X1 slots. Yet, there are two M.2 slots on the motherboard, with one of being fitted with a heat-spreader. As for the storage solution, there are six SATA III ports on the motherboard. Since this motherboard is based on the B450 chipset, the supported frequency of RAM sticks is a lot lower at 3533 MHz, although it might support a bit higher frequencies as well. Moreover, it does not support PCI-E 4.0, which was extensively released along with the X570 chipset.

The VRM of the motherboard is although not as strong as the previous motherboards, it can easily support AMD Ryzen 7 3700X stock processor; in fact, a bit of overclocking won’t hurt too. Doing more than that would result in either high temperatures on VRM or system crashes. Overall, this motherboard provides a great value for someone who is not interested in super high-frequency RAM kits or extreme overclocking. The overclocking support of this motherboard is although not great for Ryzen 7 3700X, you should be fine with a case having good airflow.
